Hello…….Dolly!! You’re lookin’ swell, Dolly!! Haha…Just thought of that song out of the blue while I was thinking of how I should start writing the very first post. Yes, all our old posts has gone with the current move from expression engine to wordpress. I prefer the old look but can’t seem to get it to work the exact same way because the coding is so different.
Oh well, change is inevitable and as stubborn as we can be, most of the time it is for the better. =)
Anyways, it took me so long to get it done because I didnt have any time at all last week! Plus my laptop’s adapter decided to die on me! Thank god for amazon.co.uk!! *lol* No, but seriously, thank god! If it had died in Malaysia, I would probably have to wait and be deprived for a long time to get Dell to send it all the way from err…..Penang??!! With amazon, I got it early in the morning the very next day!!! Haha. Omg, promoting for amazon here, they should pay me! =P
The blog isn’t completed yet but i will keep adding new things as we go along the way. I’m starting to get a hang of wordpress!
Anyways, it has been 7 months and 14 days since we came to London. Time really does go by without us even realising it. Winter has come and gone (Thank god!) and now spring is slowly but surely creeping in. Yet, the very moment we arrived London, looking for our accomodation, remains so fresh in my mind. The first month was obviously the hardest, with us trying to settle down and get accustomed to the life here. Firstly, we had to carry our luggages up and down the tube because we did not want to waste money on a taxi (very very expensive ok!). The first accomodation we had here was CRAP!! But it wasn’t a choice as we knew of no one here and the only way to know the layout of the room were a few tiny pictures posted up on the website. AND when we got there, the picture did not even look half the way it was supposed to. The room had no lock so we insisted on another room which had two separate beds and only ONE blanket. Wtf?!?! So being a gentleman, WS had to sleep in the cold!! Again, WTF?!?!?!!! We could not connect to the crappy Internet they had, hence we had to waste money in cybercafes looking for a new place to stay. The kitchen was a mess, hence we ate out everytime, surviving on pizzas and kebabs. We had initially planned to stay at that place for at least two weeks, taking our own sweet time to look for a new place but OMG we were out within 5 days! The stupid russian landlord tried to force us into staying there for 2 weeks but NO WAY in hell!! We ended up paying for a week’s rent eventhough we stayed for only 5 days. Bloody hell! But we were so so glad to move into our new (and current) place! It’s clean and wooden floored <3 !!! Oh oh!! And the cheapest accomodation for two EVER! So so SO lucky to find it! It’s a very very tiny room but I’m happy with it. Besides the occasional visit from our pain-in-the-ass landlord!!! LoL!

The street we live on, which is coincidentally called London Road
The high street is just a stone throw away and we have the Bakerloo, Jubilee and Metropolitan underground nearby. And not to forget the Wembley stadium and Wembley Arena!
Many have questioned our crazy idea to leave everything behind. But I think that was our point. To step into the unfamiliar and to gain a whole new perspective. Sure, it’s never easy to leave your comfort zone and sometimes we feel as though we want to break down and go home. But I believe this has made us stronger. We’ve seen and experienced so many new things and It has opened up our minds and the world of many possibilities. I’ve never felt so free and independant in my life and every decision I make is mine alone.
The experience has definitely made us stronger emotionally and physically (no car here ok! Only two legs, bus and tube *lol*)! We have to cook, clean the house, room and toilet, do the laundry, get groceries and pay for everything ourselves! No car, no maid, no parents, no nothing but our very own two hands! And im bloody proud of that! Wahahahaha!! Its different from a student studying overseas ok!! We pay with our own hard earn money where else most student have the benefit of parents’ money! That being said based on when I was studying here 4 years ago. I definitely appreciate things more and instead of focusing on life back home like I did as a student, I’m more focused on life here now!
Looking back, I think the hardest part for us would be the very last day here in London. I’ve grown to love the city and our life here so much, I don’t know how we’re going to leave it all behind. *sigh* But thats another 1 year, 4 months and 16 days to go……..
Before Before I finish off this post, I take this opportunity to thank all those that have supported us and our decision when everyone else had their doubts on us. =) Especially my parents. If you ever get to read this, thank you Mum and Dad from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for supporting this crazy and wild idea to move to London and do whatever my heart desires. And of course, to my other half who is on this journey with me, thank you for your love, sacrifices and support. *muacks* Love <3!
